Weather conditions make for tough going in Adelaide
Published Tue 29 Jul 2025
The weather kept things interesting for crews competing in the Oceania Under 22 Teams Rowing Championships in Adelaide last week.
Rowing Tasmania's small but enthusiastic team performed well in very challenging conditions at West Lakes, with the wild weather of rain and strong winds on Friday forcing a change to the program and the day's racing abandoned after time trials.
Conditions on Saturday and Sunday improved slightly, but crews were buffeted by some strong wind gusts along the course in the cold conditions.
In great results for our OTRC team, all rowers came home with a medal:
- Henry Maning - gold, mens 1x
- Lilly Barker, Noa Ravai, Alannah Edwards, May Wain - bronze, womens 4x
- Lilly Barker, Noa Ravai, Ollie Dowling, Ollie Hart, Alannah Edwards, May Wain, Angus Paynter, Henry Maning - silver, mixed 8+
Thank you to the coaches and support crew who accompanied the Tasmanian team - Trevor Barrett, Angus Paynter (rower and coach), Sarah Ashlin, Brett Crow, Nadia Bleaken.
