What an experience! | World Rowing U23 Championships

Published Mon 28 Jul 2025

What an amazing experience for TUBC rowers Olivia Yeates and Sam Mounter competing for Australia at the 2025 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Poznan, Poland.

A third place to Great Britain and Germany in Heat 1 of the women's quad on Day 2 of the competition on Lake Malta saw Olivia (bow) and crew straight through to Sunday's A Final.

Rowing from Lane 6, the Australians - Olivia, Sarah Fahd, Sophie Malcolm and stroke Eliza Bridgefoot - put in a strong effort to finish in sixth place (6:48.96), with the event won by Great Britain (6:30.43).

It was a slightly longer route to the B Final for the men's quad.

After third place in Heat 2 on Day 2, they then rowed to fourth in Semi-Final 2 on Saturday to take up their place in the B Final on Sunday, where they rowed from Lane 4 to finish a close second (6:01.95) to Belgium (6:00.08).

While the official results show the crew with Sam in the bow seat (Sam, Adam Holland, Hamish Danks, stroke William Rogers), the picture above tells a different story with him doing the work from the 2 seat.

Rowing Tasmania congratulates Olivia and Sam. We look forward to seeing what lies ahead for them in the world of rowing.
